Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) herald the spring.
Another harbinger of spring is the Primrose ( Primula vulgaris ) seen here in April. This plant is an ancient wood indicator.

Wood-sorrel ( Oxalis acetosella ) is one of 29 species which are indicators that Omers Gully Wood is probably an ancient woodland.
Bush vetch ( Vicia sepium ) is yet another indicator of an ancient wood.
